The Example of Patient Engagement Resource Centre for Translational Researchers (PERC)

On November 15th, EATG participated in a webinar on the EU-Funded EATRIS+ project, designed for community members of the European Patients’ Forum (EPF) and the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG). The EATRIS+ project aims to provide innovative scientific tools to the research community and empower patients through active involvement in research activities.

The focus of the webinar was the Patient Engagement Resource Centre for Translational Researchers (PERC), a repository of publicly available material such as guidance, training, and practical tools that support researchers at every stage of their patient engagement activity. The PERC is a joint initiative of the European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (EATRIS) and the European Patients’ Forum (EPF), together with affiliated partner EATG.

The panel of the webinar included the following speakers:

  • Giorgio Barbareschi (EATG Programme Manager)
  • Anka Toma (EPF Executive Director)
  • Eliis Keidong (EATRIS Member Engagement Officer)
  • Santa Rasa-Dzelzkaleja, (Leading Researcher Riga Stradiņš University)
  • David Velasco (Health Institute Carlos III, Madrid)

All panellists emphasised the pivotal role of patient advisors in shaping the PERC platform and explored how the patient community can contribute by promoting the PERC and patient engagement tools within the research community.

The EATRIS+ project will finish in December 2023. EATG’s participation in the project has been coordinated by Karina Huberman.
