The European AIDS Treatment Group is a non-profit organisation changing the life of people living with and affected by HIV for more than 30 years. Your donations will help us continue our work towards ending AIDS and inequalities.
Who we are: We are a patient- and community-led NGO that advocates for the rights and interests of people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and related co-infections within the WHO Europe region. Founded in 1992, the EATG is a network of more than 150 members from 45 countries. Our members are people living with HIV and representatives of different communities affected by HIV/AIDS and co-infections. EATG represents the diversity of more than 2.3 million people living with HIV in Europe as well as those affected by HIV/AIDS and co-infections.
Our mission: We are committed to equitable, timely and sustainable access to effective prevention, diagnoses, treatment and holistic care for all people living with and affected by HIV and associated infections and morbidities.
Why donate to EATG?
Working against shrinking space and funding for HIV/AIDS
Past the urgency of the first years, HIV/AIDS often remains out of focus for policy makers and funders. There are many standing issues for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS but the lack of interest and support do not help in achieving the goals of ending AIDS and inequalities. EATG works daily to keep HIV/AIDS high on the agenda of policy makers and give visibility to the issues faced by our communities.
Reaching out to Eastern Europe and Central Asia
Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) is a region with increasing annual HIV infections over several years. A number of determinants including hostile political settings, wars and conflicts, increased stigma, discrimination and criminalisation are blocking an effective HIV response. EATG works closely with strategic EECA partners while our members from the region are valuable ambassadors.
Working together with key populations
Particularly for key populations, social, legal, structural and other contextual factors both increase vulnerability to HIV, viral hepatitis and STIs and obstruct access to health and other essential services. EATG programmes prioritise quality of life, treatment and prevention for key populations aiming to work directly with individuals and organisations who represent these communities.
Diversifying funding streams
Over 30 years, EATG has grown from a small cohort of like-minded treatment activists into the largest Europe-wide patient- and community-led HIV organisation in the region. This growth is in no small part due to the commitment and dedication of its members, and faith placed in EATG by donors -mainly pharma- who have allowed EATG to plan its strategies and activities independently. EATG is looking to diversify the base of its funders, keeping its voice powerful and its commitment to maximising access to effective treatment, diagnostics and prevention modalities for all people and groups affected by HIV sustained.

To sum up: What keeps us going is the difference we make to lives of people with and affected by HIV and you can help us continue doing this!
26 years ago today, I recieved my HIV+ test results in Poland… 😳 Shortly after that, after a twist of fate, I found the EATG and was invited to my first General Assembly in Rotterdam. The EATG educated me, trained me to be an activist, helped me get though my clinical trial, and frankly saved me. Thanks to all of you for the love and support during those scary days and for this AMAZING organization… and keep up the great work!!!
Much love. ❤️
