The comic book aims to illuminate the struggles of campaigners from diverse social backgrounds in their fight against HIV and AIDS, as well as against the stigma attached to people living with aids. It includes the stories of gay cismen and lesbian ciswomen, transgender people, sex workers from various genders and sexual orientations, people of colour again from various genders and sexual orientations. Its format is meant to attract publics beyond academia.
Nikolaos Papadogiannis and Rachel E. Love have written the stories for this comic book, and Terry Anderson has drawn its cartoons.
The European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) and the European Sex Workers’ Rights Alliance (ESWA) have read earlier versions of the comic book and provided the authors and the cartoonist with their feedback, which has helped shape the final iteration of the book.
It is an output of the AHRC-funded “Transnational aids activism in Western Europe in the 1980s and 1990s” project.
