CU Anschutz: Research in Zimbabwe is shedding light on how diet can impact the health of people living with HIV

University of Colorado (CU) Anschutz news release

Diet and microbiome are important factors to consider for people living with HIV (PLWH). Different dietary habits interact with different microbiome compositions, and these variables may mediate health outcomes for PLWH.

Researchers conducted a study in Zimbabwe exploring links between immune function, microbiome, diet and other lifestyle factors for PLWH. The team found that dietary habits — such as amount of food consumed, or eating an agrarian vs. “western” diet — had varying effects on PLWH.
