Cases of Kaposi’s Sarcoma in people on effective ART

Back to the "HIV and Co-Infections News" list

A paper in the Annals of Internal Medicine includes two recent cases and a literature review of confirmed Kaposi’s Sarcoma (KS) in people with well-controlled HIV on ART.

Both cases had multiple cutaneous discolored plaques and ulceration with normal CD4 counts and undetectable viral load for both HIV and human herpesvirus-8 at the time of diagnosis.

It recommended screening new skin lesions for KS regardless of the CD4 count or adherence to ART.
