Do the nuances of biological aging make it more difficult for us to develop an HIV cure? Or conversely, could a better understanding of the aging process actually help us advance cure strategies?
To help explore these questions, Alan Landay, PhD, spoke to TheBodyPro at the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI 2025).
Landay co-authored more than a dozen of the studies presented at CROI 2025. More broadly, his research has been instrumental in understanding the intersection of HIV, aging, and immune function. He is a professor of internal medicine, microbiology, and immunology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. At the university, he also serves as vice president of Team Science and as interim director of the Sealy Center on Aging.
