For those of us who don’t seriously consider pet ownership as a health factor among our patients, it’s time we evolve that thinking. Thanks to a newly published study from the University of Florida, we have strong new evidence supporting a clear association between viral suppression and pet ownership among people with HIV — in ways that are both helpful and potentially harmful (but perhaps not in the ways you might assume).
