Scaling up evidence-based approaches to TB screening in prisons

A viewpoint, published in The Lancet Public Health, reviewed the evidence base for TB screening and diagnostic strategies in prisons, highlighting promising approaches and knowledge gaps.

The authors argued that improved transparency in reporting of TB notifications and outcomes in prisons and renewed focus and resourcing from the World Health Organization and other stakeholders will be crucial for building the commitment and investments needed from countries to address the continued TB crisis in prisons.
