HIV i-Base | 3rd London Chemsex Conference: An expanding network of excellent but under-funded services and an urgent need for data

Back to the "HIV and Co-Infections News" list

Report by Simon Collins, HIV i-Base

On 14 October 2026, more than 200 health workers attended the community-organised 3rd London Chemsex Conference.

The programme included 17 short 15-minute presentations covering a diverse range of issues but with an emphasis on how to develop and improve chemsex services in London.

Recurrent themes included limited funding, developing greater awareness in mainstream services, the importance of involving direct experience in services and current barriers to accessing care.

Selected summaries in the report show the complex network of services, which remain under-funded, and that are often provided by community organisations rather than from mainstream NHS, emergency and social services.
