Singapore/Geneva, 15 December 2022 – The government of Singapore has announced a pledge of US$1 million to the Global Fund, recognizing the need for sustained financial support for countries and communities to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and strengthen systems for health.
“The Global Fund warmly welcomes this pledge from the government of Singapore, which will help us support communities to fight against HIV, tuberculosis and malaria and strengthen health system resilience and pandemic preparedness,” said Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund. “With this pledge Singapore is demonstrating its support of multilateral efforts to save lives and reinforce global health security by building stronger, more resilient and more inclusive systems for health.”
Investments from the Global Fund’s successful Seventh Replenishment are estimated to generate health improvements in the ASEAN countries with a monetized intrinsic value of US$40 billion and direct productivity gains of US$3.3 billion.
