The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) released the following publications:
ECDC, in collaboration with the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS), has developed standards of HIV care that define key quality statements, indicators and targets to support improvements in, access to, and quality of HIV services. These include a dedicated module on HIV testing, covering quality statements describing best practice based on current guidelines, and measurable, auditable indicators for outcome, structure and processes.
The global community has committed to eliminating vertical transmission of HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV) and syphilis as a public health priority. This global commitment encourages countries to provide the most effective, high-quality and person-centred care available to pregnant and breastfeeding people, aiming to ensure a generation born free of HIV, syphilis and HBV. Antenatal screening programmes, including universal screening for transmissible infections, aim to ensure optimal parent and child health for all including population groups identified as vulnerable to vertical transmission in line with the overarching objective of the Sustainable Development Goals of leaving no one behind.
ECDC has developed a guide providing a harmonised, non-prescriptive framework for data collection on doxycycline prophylaxis for the prevention of bacterial sexually transmitted infections in the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA). It is intended to support monitoring, surveillance, research and evaluation activities in settings where doxycycline prophylaxis (primarily doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis, doxy-PEP) is used, whether by prescription or informally.
