A study published in this month’s Lancet HIV claims to have produced one of the most detailed analyses of life expectancy among people living with HIV in high-income countries in the modern treatment era. It found that for people on antiretroviral therapy and with high CD4 cell counts, life expectancy was only a few years lower than the general population, regardless of when they had started treatment.
