The European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG), AIDS Action Europe (AAE), and Correlation-European Harm Reduction Network (C-EHRN) present “5-5-5 – We Won’t Be Left Behind!”, a networking zone in the context of the Global Village at the 25th International AIDS Conference (22 July – 26 July 2024) in Munich, Germany.
“5-5-5” represents people left behind in the 2030 UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. “5-5-5” represents all the efforts needed to reach and go beyond the targets to leave no one behind. “5-5-5” represents what communities want and what is needed to bridge the gap in HIV prevention, treatment and care.
The 5-5-5 networking zone will provide a platform to present and discuss gaps, barriers, and potential solutions to achieving the 95% and 5% targets. It will be a space for mutual-learning and exchange between civil society organisations and communities. It aims to foster collaborations across sectors, countries, as well as greater inclusivity and participatory approach of HIV organisations. Through a series of various activities, visitors to the global village will gain a deeper understanding of the needs and priorities of key populations and will be immersed in the narratives around the epidemic, remaining challenges and innovative civil society interventions driving the response to the HIV epidemic in the WHO European region.
There will be one thematic priority per day with inspiration talks, presentations, and recaps on key learnings, covering the following themes:
Stigma, discrimination, social justice, and improving the health outcomes of inadequately served populations are issues that will be address across the 5 themes. We won’t give up on the 5% living with HIV and perceived that they will never know their status. We won’t give up on the 5% who know they are living with HIV but cannot received sustained treatment. We won’t give up on the 5% receiving treatment but their viral load is detectable. We #PutPeopleFirst and we won’t let anyone left behind!
