Background

The European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) is a patient-led NGO that advocates for the rights and interests of people living with or affected by HIV/ AIDS and related co-infections within the WHO Europe region. Founded in 1992, the EATG is a network of more than 150 members from 45 countries in Europe. Our members are PLHIV and representatives of different communities affected by HIV/AIDS and co-infections. EATG represents the diversity of more than 2.3 million people living with HIV in Europe as well as those affected by HIV/AIDS and co-infections.

Mission statement of EATG:

EATG is an organisation driven by people living with HIV and key affected populations that is committed to equitable, timely and sustainable access to effective prevention, diagnoses, treatment and holistic care for all people living with and affected by HIV and associated infections and morbidities.
The primary geographic focus of the EATG is the member states served by the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe; however, the EATG will consider opportunities to collaborate with and support similar efforts in other parts of the world.

About the READI Project:

The Research in Europe and Diversity Inclusion (READI) Project is a public-private partnership funded by the Horizon Europe Innovative Initiative (IHI). It aims to create a more cohesive and inclusive ecosystem for clinical studies by ensuring the participation of underserved and underrepresented populations. As part of the project, Task 4.5, led by EATG, focuses on raising awareness and building trust among the general public — with a particular emphasis on underserved and underrepresented (US/UR) populations identified through WP1 (Task 1.1). In close collaboration with WP6 (Community Connectivity, Engagement & Infrastructure for Inclusion), task 4.5 will promote community inclusivity and contribute to the development of training materials that will be made accessible through the Virtual Learning Platform (Task 4.6).
