Frequent antiretroviral therapy regimen switching among virologically suppressed patients with HIV reflects a clinical shift toward treatment optimization and the streamlining of oral or long-acting injectable therapies.

Researchers conducted an observational cohort study using electronic health record data captured from 97 clinics across 21 US states and Puerto Rico. They sought to characterize trends in ART regimen switching among virologically suppressed patients with HIV infection between July 2024 and June 2025.
