Low CD4 count tied to cervical cancer risk in HIV infection

Among women with HIV infection, both lower CD4 counts and higher HIV RNA viral load were associated with higher incidence rates of moderate and severe cervical dysplasia, carcinoma in situ, and invasive cervical cancer; the positive association between HIV RNA viral load and precancer and cancer rates largely attenuated after adjustment for CD4 count.

Is integrase inhibitor-based HIV therapy safe in pregnancy?

Infants exposed in utero to integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI)-based antiretroviral therapy had 1-year scores for cognitive, language, and motor development similar to those of infants exposed to protease inhibitors. However, cognitive scores were slightly lower than those of infants exposed to non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) regimens.

HIV status affects pregnancy-related cardiac changes

Prior live births and higher parity were associated with significant changes in left ventricular and diastolic measures in women, and these cardiac changes differed between those with and without HIV infection.
