The HIV charity, George House Trust, and the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA) launched a collaborative campaign to support gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men living with HIV to better understand their health risks, feel empowered to have the right conversations, and provide vital health information that could improve their health outcomes.
The campaign focuses on anal cancer. While a rare condition, for people living with HIV the risk is approximately 19 times higher and for men living with HIV who engage in sex with other men, the risk is an additional three times higher.
Despite these risks, many find it difficult to discuss anal health, and the campaign looks to address those challenges directly for better health outcomes in these historically marginalised community.
