The U.S. Department of State signed a five-year bilateral health Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Republic of Nigeria to strengthen Nigeria’s health system, with a strong emphasis on promoting Christian faith-based health care providers. Under this MOU, the Department of State, working with Congress, intends to commit nearly $2.1 billion to expand essential preventative and curative services for HIV, TB, malaria, maternal and child health and polio. Additionally, Nigeria will increase its domestic health expenditures by nearly $3 billion during the term of the MOU, the largest co-investment any country has made to date under the America First Global Health Strategy.

The United States and the Government of Cameroon signed a bilateral health Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand significant health gains and advance global health security under the America First Global Health Strategy. Over the next five years, the Department of State, working with Congress, plans to provide nearly $400 million in health assistance. Cameroon has committed to increase its own health expenditures by $450 million.

The Department of State, working with Congress, intends to provide up to $1.8 billion to expand cutting-edge solutions such as the HIV prevention drug lenacapavir and drive advancements in malaria preventions efforts. Through the MOU, the Republic of Mozambique commits to increasing its domestic expenditures on healthcare as a percent of its government budget by nearly 30% over the next five-years. These funds will be used to improve maternal, newborn, and child health while increasing national efforts to eliminate mother-to-child HIV transmission.
