As sexually transmitted infections (STIs) continue to surge across the European Union and European Economic Area (EU/EEA), a new report published by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reveals a complex landscape of national responses. Though most countries have strategies in place, significant barriers to preventative measures and testing, and a lack of data are hindering efforts to curb the epidemics of chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and syphilis.
The report, ‘Monitoring of the responses to sexually transmitted infection epidemics in EU/EEA countries, 2024′, provides the first comprehensive overview of how European countries are tackling the rise in STIs.
