New doxyPEP findings underscore STI prevention efficacy — and the need for implementation science

The use of doxycycline to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is highly effective in sexually active men who have sex with men and in transgender women, according to final published results from the first major U.S. study on doxyPEP. The newly published results add impressive findings from an open-label extension phase of the study—and they allow us to shine a spotlight on the important work we have ahead to improve awareness and uptake of doxyPEP as a valuable part of routine health care.
