Women and HIV

Women are disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic all around the world, and also in Europe. There is also plenty of evidence that women are far less represented in clinical trials, and they have, in general, a lower level of access to science.

The overarching goal of this portfolio is to provide guidelines on meaningful, sustainable and ethical women involvement in HIV treatment research and to optimise women engagement in decision-making process across HIV medicines’ R&D lifecycle. Also, the Women’s Portfolio in EATG works towards making sure that the specific issues and challenges that women living with or affected by HIV are adequately represented in the HIV response in Europe.
