Applications now open! Ageing with HIV – Children and Adolescents Conference

As part of the 2nd phase of the Ageing with HIV Project, the EATG is organizing a conference on the topic New challenges and unmet needs of children and adolescents living and ageing with HIV/AIDS”. The conference will take place from 19 to 22 January 2017 in Bucharest (Romania).

By bringing together the patients’ community, researches, healthcare providers and other key actors working in the domain of ageing and HIV it is expected that the conference will provide an overview of the latest research on the medical, psychological and social aspects of living and ageing with HIV/AIDS as children, adolescents and young adults (up to 25 years) and the identification of key advocacy needs and priorities in this domain.

How to Apply:

You are welcomed to apply to the conference by filling in the application form online at Please reply in English and be as detailed as possible in your answers to all of the questions on the form.

The deadline for submitting your application is Wednesday 21 September 201623:59 Central European Time.

Selection Criteria:

Please note that the conference is open only to selected candidates. All applicants will be informed of the selection outcome two weeks after the deadline.

  • General criteria: Motivation to attend the conference, understanding of HIV in general/willingness to learn about HIV and ageing, experience of children and adolescents living with HIV, ability to convey meeting outcomes & findings to a wider audience
  • Consideration: Geographic region
  • Essential requirement: To be able to actively participate for the full duration of the meeting

Conference fee and scholarships:

Accepted candidates will have free access to the conference sessions. A limited number of successful candidates will be granted full (travel, accommodation, meals) or partial (accommodation, meals) scholarships for their participation. Please state on the registration form which type of support you wish to be considered for.

Mentorship Programme:

All accepted candidates up to the age of 25 will have the possibility to be assigned a mentor prior to the conference. The aim of this mentorship is to provide guidance on how to make the best of the event and to disseminate the outcomes afterwards in the local community. Participation in the mentorship programme is fully voluntary.
