AIDS 2018: Addressing research gaps identified by women living with HIV in Europe and Central Asia

We are pleased to invite you to join a side-meeting at the AIDS 2018 conference that will bring together community, clinicians and researchers to discuss research gaps related to women living with HIV and ways to address them. To kick off the discussion, the European AIDS Treatment Group will present key findings from recent projects and will invite community and researchers to exchange knowledge and experience. During the panel and ensuing moderated discussion, participants will examine initiatives to promote the meaningful engagement of women in research. Participants will also discuss gaps in surveillance and pharmacovigilance that need to be addressed.

Organiser: The European AIDS Treatment Group

Audience: Communities, researchers, clinicians, funders of research

Description: The session will bring together community, clinicians and researchers to discuss research gaps related to women living with HIV and ways to address them. To kick off the discussion, the EATG will present key findings from its projects and will invite community and researchers to exchange experience and advocacy. During the panel session, participants will examine initiatives to promote the meaningful engagement of women in research. Participants will also discuss gaps in surveillance and pharmacovigilance that need to be addressed.

Expected outcomes: Enhanced understanding from both research and PLWHIV communities on the needs to be addressed, ongoing and future research agenda. The session will also provide an opportunity for networking.

Format: Presentations from EATG projects (primarily METRODORA and Ageing with HIV) followed by panel and interactive discussion with participants. The panel will be composed of community, researchers and clinicians.
