NEAT (European AIDS Treatment Network) 2007-2012 builds a clinical and laboratory network in HIV therapeutics to strengthen European HIV clinical research capacity.

What is NEAT?

NEAT is a network of Excellence funded by the European Commission. Its mission is to strengthen European HIV clinical research capacity.

The main deliverables of NEAT are centered around clinical research (the NEAT001/ANRS 143 HIV clinical trial and its substudies, the NEAT HepC/HIV Cohort Network, intergration grants etc.) and training and education activities.

How EATG is involved in NEAT?

EATG is the HIV Community Partner in NEAT. EATG holds different positions within the Consortium and works to promote the interests of people living with HIV/AIDS.

In this section you can find a summary of all activities conducted by EATG since initiation of NEAT in February 2007 as well as the foreseen deliverables till the end of the project in January 2012.

What is the NEAT 001 / ANRS 143 Clinical Trial?

NEAT 001 is a strategic trial investigating two different treatment combinations to treat HIV-1 infected patients that have never been treated for their HIV infection before. It compares a standard regimen of three drugs that is already recommended as first-line therapy (regimen for treatment naïve HIV-1 patients ) to an innovative treatment option that combines two potent recent antiretroviral drugs.

What is the NEAT Hepatitis C / HIV Cohort Network?

It is a Network of major experts in the field of HIV / HCV coinfection working at establishing a cohort of patients for the PRospective OBservational Evaluation (PROBE) study on the natural history and treatment of acute HCV in HIV positive individuals in Europe.
