EATG organises an Eastern Europe and Central Asia Community Meeting (27th October 2009)

The EATG organises a meeting “From commitments to reality: community’s role ensuring accountability” in Moscow.

There is a clear need for a structured and comprehensive strategy and methodology, both on an organisational and international level, for reaching out effectively to Eastern Europe and Central Asia, ensuring access to treatment and efficient policy strategies.

For these reasons the EATG organises a community meeting session aiming at discussing an action plan for the region within the framework of the Dublin Declaration and UNGASS monitoring reports.

This community meeting will be an opportunity for European activists, particularly the Eastern Europeans, working in the field of HIV/AIDS treatment to share ideas and techniques and synergise their efforts with the efforts of other activists, organisations, and networks, with a similar or different experience of this work.

By bringing together community representatives of each region we will define a joint strategy to increase community involvement in treatment issues and discuss how to better tackle issues related to access to treatment, IDUs, PMTCT, MSM (stigma and discrimination), etc.

In the first session of community meetings that EATG is planning to carry out in 2009 and 2010, EATG will focus on how to work together on the monitoring and implementation of the Dublin Declaration and UNGASS reports.

27th October 2009
