German review panel sees added benefit for J&J hepatitis C drug

German review panel ruling a key factor in setting the price of new drugs in the German system.

Germany’s IQWiG drug-review panel found that Johnson & Johnson’s hepatitis C treatment telaprevir showed evidence of an added benefit when used together with older treatments, according to a statement posted on the panel’s website today.

Germany’s Federal Joint Committee will use IQWiG’s recommendation to make a final ruling on whether telaprevir, also known by the brand name Incivo, helps patients more than existing therapies do, a key factor in setting the price of new drugs in the German system.
