The International HIV/AIDS Alliance (Alliance) and the International Council of AIDS Services Organizations (ICASO) are conducting an online consultation for civil society to input into the draft framework that has been developed to outline community systems strengthening.

Marking World AIDS Day (December 1st), the event will remind participants that HIV/AIDS remains a fundamental health problem in Europe, also affecting migrant populations, and it will mobilize a wide array of stakeholders, practitioners and policy makers around HIV and migration at EU and national level.

The meeting aims to provide a relevant and topical Scientific Programme reflecting recent progress in therapeutic strategies and research affecting the management of HIV infection.

Our annual stakeholders meeting was organised in Brussels, June 10th, to share with our partners the results of our work and discuss ideas and projects for the coming years.

Monday, 18 July, 2011 (Rome, Italy) -- Members of the Advisory Board for a global scientific strategy “Towards an HIV Cure” today launched the Rome Statement for an HIV Cure calling for an acceleration of HIV cure research.

The 13th European AIDS Conference/EACS is being organised under the auspices of the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) on October 12-15th in Belgrade, Serbia. The conference offers an exciting scientific programme and an opportunity to highlight any issues particularly relevant to the HIV epidemic in Serbia and the larger Southeastern European region.

The conference will be held in Abano Terme in Italy starting in the evening of the 5th October and finishing on the evening of the 7th October 2011. This conference follows on from the successful prison health conference held in Madrid in 2009.

On 29 October, the UNAIDS Liaison Office to the European Union organized a roundtable to discuss UNITAID’s initiative to create a voluntary Patent Pool for AIDS medicines. The meeting brought together representatives of the European Commission, Médecins Sans Frontières, European AIDS Treatment Group and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.
