A guide to COPE

 

Brochure Budget

The budget should not exceed 3500 EUR per brochure (including translation, layout, printing).

Payment is made in twice. A first payment of 50% of the total budget will be transferred to the recipient after the publication has been translated, proofread and designed. A second and final payment will be made after EATG’s Secretariat has received the recipient’s financial report with copies of all receipts and invoices.

Payments can be made only by bank transfers.

 

Content

The translated material should be designed for people living with HIV/AIDS and contain information on HIV treatment and/or quality of life issues.

The information should be adapted to the local situation.

 

Eligible applicants

Any NGO dealing with HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment preparedness and other HIV/AIDS related issues from any country defined as European by the World Health Organisation is eligible.

A special focus will be put on:

  • New EU member states: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia;
  • Candidate countries: Croatia, Macedonia, Turkey;
  • CIS countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan; Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan;
  • Western countries: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia.

 

How to apply

The applicant should submit a proposal, containing the following information:

  • The original text to be translated and/or printed.
  • Language(s) text will be translated to.
  • Number of pages (each page should have 1820 characters, including punctuation, spacing etc).
  • Cost of translation (cost must not exceed 10 EUR per page).
  • Information regarding format of brochure: size (A4, A5), printing options (B&W, full colour), paper quality.
  • Cost of printing.

Important considerations

  • Implementation time is 12 weeks.
  • Translations must be of a high quality and be reviewed by a qualified HIV doctor, an HIV+ individual and one other informed individual.
  • 10 hard copies as well as the electronic version of each publication (in each language) must be sent to EATG.
  • All publications financed by CoPE are copyright free.

 

Note on community involvement in COPE materials development

Ensuring the involvement of community representatives is essential when developing and preparing good treatment material.

This is especially important when translating ”sensitive“ materials concerning HIV/AIDS, trial designs, treatment information, materials that deal with human rights and ethics of trial designs etc.
