Dato (David) Ananiashvili was living with his family in Tibilisi, Georgia at the time of his sudden death. He was working in the field of HIV/AIDS since 1997.
He was the director of the first self support group of people affected with HIV/AIDS, until 2002. In 2011 he became member of the Eastern European and Central Asia network of PLWA (ECUO). He had a background in technical sciences, computer programming and web engineering.
Dato was experienced in treatment advocacy, human rights, and substitution treatment. As a person living with HIV/AIDS since 1996 his main interest was access to ART, HCV and methadone treatments for all PLWHA in Eastern Europe.
In 1999 he became member of the European AIDS Treatment Group and after a hiatus he joined our group again in 2013.
